It’s always fun when I get asked to take pictures for someone else’s business. Not only for the challenge and creative process it allows for, but also because meeting other small business entrepreneurs is a lovely experience. Laura is the owner of Crocus Designs, a florist who specializes in floral design for weddings and events. She is very talented, and it was cool to watch her create bouquets for a real wedding later that day.

I was invited to take pictures for a very special occasion: a 90th birthday party. Held at the Prince Andrew Hotel in Halifax, I photographed family formals before the reception began. It was very touching to see all of this family together, from the young to the young-at-heart. Not only that, but I was moved at how many people were able to come celebrate this woman.

I teamed up with local artisan Laura from The Yellow Birdhouse to capture her joyfully colourful felt creations on adorable models. Her handmade, high-quality felt creations showcase many nautical and floral designs, but I’ve seen some of her custom designs and they are uniquely beautiful as well. We spent some time at MacCormack’s Beach in Eastern Passage. The lighting in the early evening was just lovely. It felt so natural to take pictures of these beautiful sisters playing in the sand.

I had a great time chasing around these cute kids on the grounds of École Bois-Joli in Dartmouth. What a fun, naturally-inspired playground!

It’s always fun to try new things in photography, so when I was asked to do some professional headshots for a new business owner, I was pretty excited!
Rosanna Pelton is a budding entrepreneur, who has recently launched her very own administrative and concierge services business, Rosapel. Naturally, she needed a professional image to use for her business! Rosanna also happens to be my Aunt, so I was happy to help her out, but also catch up at the same time and hear all about her new business.
I really love the way these turned out, and I hope to do more headshots in the future! Continue reading
My dear friend Caileigh. One of the most thoughtful people I know. She remembers the most amazing little details! Like the fact that we are a family constantly on the move, so for Christmas she bought us some locally made changing pads, for us to stuff in our bags to go! She has a beautiful way about her, and her smile can really light up a room. I’ve known Caileigh for about five years now, but I truly began to appreciate her once I had my son Joseph. See, Caileigh is a developmental interventionist and play practitioner who specializes in the use of play therapy for children. In other words, Caileigh is amazing with kids. My son loves her, and she has an incredible ability to relate to him. She was one of the first people he could identify in a photo album! Continue reading
