As I walked into Alex, Allison, and Theo’s beautiful home on a Sunday afternoon, I was happy to see a family gathering taking place. Apparently getting together on Sundays is a tradition this family loves to share. To me, sharing time and a meal with people I love is something I value so much. When I meet other people with those same values, it is so easy to make a connection! Continue reading
You know what’s truly amazing? Getting four children and two adults to smile. At the same time. With no blinking or weird faces. Oh hey there Myatt family. Thanks for being so awesome and making me look good!
Last August, I met up with one of my favorite families at DeWolfe Park in Bedford. You are probably thinking two things: she says every family is “one of her favorites” and “LAST August? Good grief. Get your act together!” Continue reading
One of my favorite families! Amber, Malcolm, and Kendan needed some updated family pictures done because…there was another baby on the way! And what could have been more perfect than heading back to the same spot I met them the first time: Shubie Park. This time, it was a beautiful summer day, absolutely perfect for walking around with an energetic 2-year-old.
One of the best parts of being a family photographer is meeting other families. Often, we can relate on some level because of our kids. It’s so fun telling stories and laughing about this crazy life. Amber’s kids are roughly the same age as my kids (spoiler alert: she had a little girl. So a boy and a girl…just like me!). I remember thinking that it would be pretty cool to hang out with them. Thankfully, Amber was thinking along the same lines, and we’ve actually been able to meet up a couple of times!
I’m so honored to have been part of seeing this family grow over the last two years! Until next time 🙂 Continue reading
I loved the drive to their beautiful home in Bedford. It was a grey and chilly day in December, the kind of wet cold I’ve come to know from Halifax. The clouds seemed low, and with it being the beginning of December, seemed like they might be ready to give us some snow.
I love the light from those cold, grey days in winter. Its the kind of quiet light that makes me want to snuggle with a blanket, tea, and a good book. But after meeting Ken, Natalie, and baby Henry, I also realized its also perfect for snuggling new little babies. Continue reading
There is a lot about being pregnant that isn’t pretty or glamorous. I know this having gone through two myself. But there is something so beautiful about being pregnant that I just can’t put my finger on. The anticipation. The excitement. The new beginnings. Especially when it is the couple’s first baby, those last few weeks of pregnancy almost seem like they cast a spell, and everyone is holding their breath, just waiting for the baby to arrive.
Not to mention that baby bump is the perfect accessory and seems to look cute no matter what. Continue reading
I had the pleasure of meeting little Reyann and his wonderful parents on his 1st birthday. They were busy preparing for their guests, and wanted to capture their little boy digging into his Micky Mouse cake. I was immediately taken with Reyann. He has the most beautiful brown eyes and gentle demeanour. A lot of one year olds might be scared of a strange lady with a big camera in their face, but he just patiently stared at me! He even gave me some adorable smiles. He was also SO gentle in his cake smash! He slowly picked at his cake (as opposed to my son, who literally smashed his cake into his whole face!). Continue reading
Pamela, Nick, Clara, and little Eloise May. This is who I had the privilege of spending a couple of hours with on a weekend in July! I visited their home for a casual lifestyle family session, just five days after Eloise was born. Both Pam and Nick were laid back, fun, and so proud of their little family. They had a beautiful property, and we had fun picking different spots for the family-photo-to-hang-on-the-wall (which of course…they nailed!). Continue reading
Ashley and Cody are expecting their little girl at the end of August, and asked me to document them before their newest addition arrives! Ashley is a florist with Blossom Shops, and Cody is a pretty busy guy working a couple of different jobs, but one of them is being part of the start up for Bottleneck cold-brewed coffee! Judging by their laid-back attitude and sweet gigs, I think these two are going to be pretty cool parents! Continue reading
Newborns. I think I am officially obsessed. They are just so smooshy and cute. This is little Jules, just 2-weeks old. I love that they fall asleep. Wherever. And that their skin is so soft and covered in little down. And that their parents love them. And that they can wear whatever and it is the cutest thing in the world. Continue reading
Our first stop of the day was Crystal Crescent Beach, where I first met Stacey, Nadine and of course, Timber the dog. It was early April, beautiful, sunny….windy and cold. Dreams of getting beautiful beachside photos were quickly squashed! Thankfully, Stacey and Nadine are easy going and flexible and suggested we just take a drive back into Halifax!
