I was invited to take pictures for a very special occasion: a 90th birthday party. Held at the Prince Andrew Hotel in Halifax, I photographed family formals before the reception began. It was very touching to see all of this family together, from the young to the young-at-heart. Not only that, but I was moved at how many people were able to come celebrate this woman.
A photography session with one of my favourite families on one of my favourite beaches….Rainbow Haven Provincial Park. Amber’s parents were visiting from Alberta, so we made sure to include Nana and Papa in the session as well. It is so special when extended family can be part of our time together. But remind me next time we head to the beach in September. BRING BUG SPRAY!
I love the fall! It was a perfect day to hang out with Liz, Cameron and their little girl Audrey at the York Redoubt National Park. And what a fun site to visit for pictures. There are a number of different “spots”, not to mention it is fun for the kids to run around.
It was a pleasure to meet Bethany & Braden’s growing family at Hemlock Ravine Park on an over cast fall day. I love the grey weather, and how it makes the fall colors really pop. Owen was a perfectly content little guy, and usually pretty happy to hang out with mom and dad.
It was a cool crisp, fall day when I met Lindsay & Steven with their two beautiful children at Point Pleasant Park. The nice thing about photography sessions including older kids is that, usually, it doesn’t take much to grab that perfect picture for the Christmas card. Actually, one of the most fun parts is getting a genuine smile out of them, which includes some leg work from mom and dad. However, a special treat is when big brother helps along too!
Erin & Kris with her boys are a great family. I first met the twins when they were babies, and I’ve really enjoyed seeing them again each year. It means a lot to me as a photographer to have returning families. It’s really nice seeing the kids get older, not to mention getting to know mom and dad each year. It makes our sessions fun and laid back! We spent some time feeding ducks and walking around at Shubie Park.
This session with baby Naya and her mom and dad is proof that you don’t always need a stellar photography location to capture precious moments. I met with them in their two bedroom apartment in November, when it was far too cold to do an outdoor location. Most important things: good light and good subjects!
I had a great time during this extended-family session! Laura initially contacted me, to say that she had some family visiting from all over Canada. Originally, we wanted to take some pictures by the ocean, but a sharp wind made that nearly impossible. So we headed to a sheltered section on the Salt Marsh Trail. I just loved the way the golden light filtered through the trees.
Meet Amelia, the gorgeous addition to Amber and Malcolm’s family. I really love her name. I am a sucker for those old-fashioned classics! Big brother Kendan was so sweet. Everyone clearly loves this sweet little one!
I had a really sweet in-home session with Darcie and her little girl Myah. I always love when the rest of the family can join in, so we made sure to include her dog Oakley, as well as Grandma and Grandpa.
